Introduction:

Recently, I installed a full light blocker on my device and decided to give it a thorough test to see how well it performs. After putting it through its paces, I can confidently say that it's a must-have accessory if you really crave true immersion on this device. It does enhance the overall viewing experience, but I also find myself not very compelled to use it very frequently. In this blog post, I will share my first impressions and thoughts on this nifty little gadget.

The Perfect Fit:

The full light blocker is designed to prevent any light leakage when you're using your device, ensuring that you're fully immersed in the content. The snug fit blocks out light even when there's a light source behind you, which, with other VR headsets, you sneak in and reflect off the lens. So, at least for my large head, it is quite impressive. Although the fit may vary for different users.

Tracking and Brightness:

One of the concerns I had before trying out the light blocker was whether it would interfere with facial recognition and tracking features. To my pleasant surprise, all tracking mechanisms worked seamlessly with the light blocker installed.

As for brightness, with the light blocker in place, you will likely want to adjust the MQP brightness levels to your liking. With the brightness turned all the way up, the device becomes very bright, which might not be suitable for everyone. However, finding the perfect balance between brightness and contrast ratio is easy, and it results in improved image quality.

Room for Improvement:

Despite its effectiveness, there are a couple of drawbacks to the light blocker. First, considering its usefulness, it should have been included in the device package by default. Second, it doesn't fit on the base with the light blocker installed, which is an oversight that should have been addressed in MQP design.

Comfort and Immersion:

Made from soft silicone, the light blocker is comfortable to wear, even for extended periods. It does an excellent job of blocking out all external light, creating a truly immersive experience that enhances your enjoyment of the content you're watching.

Conclusion:

The full light blocker is a worthwhile addition to your device that significantly improves the viewing experience. Its ability to block out external light and create an immersive environment makes it a nice-to-have accessory but not a must-have if you love true immersion. It does enhance the overall viewing experience, but I also find myself not very compelled to use it very frequently.
