Introduction
Welcome back to part two of our exploration of the Meta Quest Pro! In this post, we dive deeper into the collaborative possibilities of this VR headset by examining two powerful applications: Meta Workrooms and Gravity Sketch. Not only will we take a closer look at these immersive tools, but we'll also demonstrate how to use the LiDAR sensor on your iPhone Pro to scan real-world objects and import them into your virtual world. So, let's get started!
Meta Horizons Workrooms: The Future of Collaboration?
Meta Workrooms offers a dynamic, immersive environment to collaborate with others, utilizing typical business tools within an AR/VR space. The hand and facial tracking in Meta Workrooms are very accurate, enabling a seamless experience as you interact with your virtual environment. That is if you can get past the fact you are interacting with a cartoon-looking avatar. For some, this likely won't be a problem; for others, I will be a deal breaker.
You can connect your computer to the virtual workspace, allowing you to share screens, annotate on a whiteboard, and even participate in video calls. The meeting rooms within Meta Workrooms can be customized to suit different layouts and environments, catering to various professional settings.
Gravity Sketch: Unleashing Creativity in 3D
Gravity Sketch, one of my favorite collaborative apps for creativity, it allows you to sketch, create 3D models, and import other 3D models into a shared space. The realism within the VR environment is truly impressive. You can even switch to an AR view for a more immersive experience, using a clever method of grabbing your visual VR headset and removing it from your virtual face, revealing your mixed relative environment.
For those with an iOS device equipped with a LiDAR sensor, you can use the Scanniverse app to create 3D objects from real-world items. After processing the scan, export it as an FBX file and import it into Gravity Sketch. Now you have a virtual object ready for manipulation and collaboration with others!

Collaborating in the Same Physical Space
The true power of these applications lies in their ability to facilitate collaboration between individuals, regardless of their location. As an example, we set up two headsets within the same room, one using the Meta Quest Pro and the other using the Quest 2. This allows both users to interact with the same virtual objects and collaborate on creative projects.
Conclusion
The Meta Quest Pro offers an exciting look into the future of immersive collaboration in virtual reality. By harnessing the power of the device and applications, scubas Meta Workrooms and Gravity Sketch, users can engage in immersive, interactive experiences that transcend traditional boundaries. As technology continues to advance, the possibilities for virtual collaboration will only grow.
